Hair Balls are a band from Russia that plays a crossover form of thrash metal and this is a review of their 2013 album "Atomic Cucumber" which was re-issued in 2016 by Zombie Records.
A very heavy and melodic punk/metal sound starts off the album along with some vocals that are very aggressive yet melodic at the same time and the riffs bring in the heaviness of thrash metal while the music is also very heavily rooted in the 80's and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they stick to more of an old school thrash/speed metal direction and the vocals also bring in a touch of power metal and the song s also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the album also sticks to a very heavy sound from beginning to ending of the recording.
Hair Balls plays a style of thrash that is very heavy and melodic while also mixing in a touch of crossover to create a style of their own, the production sounds very old school while the lyrics cover angry and real life themes.
In my opinion Hair Balls are a very great sounding crossover thrash metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Brain Collapse" 'Married To A Beer" and "Hungry Man". 8 out of 10.
