Eltharia are band from France that plays a mixture of power and progressive metal and this is a review of their self released 2014 album "Innocent".
War sounds start off the album before adding in symphonic sounds and melodic guitar leads as well as some power metal style vocals and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and you can also hear a thrash influence in some of the riffs at times along with clean parts being added in certain sections of some of the tracks.
A good portion of the songs are heavily rooted in the 80's while they also add in more of a modern prog metal sound at times to make the music sound more updated and some of the tracks add in screams that have a black metal feeling to them and as the album progresses the music starts to mix the more symphonic elements in with the heavier parts while a couple of tracks are ballads along with a brief instrumental and the heavier tracks also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and on some of the songs you can hear a touch of 70's metal in some of the riffs.
Eltharia plays a style of power metal that has its roots in the 80's and 70's while also adding in the prog metal elements of the past and present along with with a touch of modern extreme metal to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover darkness and war themes.
In my opinion Eltharia are a very great sounding mixture of progressive and power metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Third World War" "My Own Justice" "Faster Than The Reaper" and "Keys Of Underworld". 8 out of 10.
