Blackened are a band from the United Kingdom that plays an old school mixture of thrash metal and crossover and this is a review of their 2015 ep "Underground Attack" which was released by Witches Brew.
A very heavy and old school thrash metal sound starts off the ep and also goes into a fast Bay Area influenced direction a few seconds later along with a few blast beats and the solos and leads the band also uses remain true to an 80's extreme metal sound and after the intro aggressive and screaming style vocals are added into the music.
You can hear a lot of hardcore punk elements being mixed in the bands brutal thrash metal style which also gives the ep more of a crossover edge and as the ep progresses the music brings in a brief use of clean playing before making a return back to a heavier musical direction and the songs have a very vintage 80's sound to t hem while the production gives the music more of a modern day feeling along with a few back up gang shouts.
Blackened plays a very extreme crossover style of thrash metal that is very aggressive and metal as well as showing more of a heavier side of 80's metal, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover political, thrash and social criticism themes.
In my opinion Blackened are a very great sounding mixture of crossover and thrash metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Underground Attack" and "Third World". 8 out of 10.
