The Marigold are a band from Italy that plays a mixture of shoegaze, avant rock, noise, ambient and sludge and this is a review of their 2014 album "Kanaval" which was released by DeAmbula Records.
Clean playing and avant garde sounds start off the album and on the second track the music starts adding in heavy guitars which also utilize a decent amount of melodies while also keeping around the experimental and avant garde elements and all of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them.
As the album progresses clean playing can be heard in certain sections of the recording and the band also brings in melodic vocals and elements of shoegaze and all of the tracks have a different sound to them and you can also hear traces of noise rock in some of the tracks while some songs bring in ambient and electronic music sounds.
The Marigold creates a musical sound that is very hard to classify and takes influences from sludge, noise, ambient, shoegaze and experimental to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very dark while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion The Marigold are a very great sounding mixture of shoegaze, avant rock, noise, ambient and sludge and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Magmantra" "Sludge-Jungle" "So Say We All" and "Demon leech". 8 out of 10.
