Will Wallner & Vivien Vain are a duo from the United Kingdom and Croatia that plays a very traditional and old school form of heavy metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "The battle Of Clyst Heat" which was released by WormHoleDeath Records.
A very dark and distorted electronic music sound starts off the album along with some symphonic elements that also bring a progressive feeling to the recording and when solos and leads are added into the music they bring in a very old school and melodic sounding hard rock/metal sound to the album and they have a very dominant sound and presence on all of the tracks.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them and when vocals are added into the music the album starts going for more of a traditional 80's metal sound while the production gives the songs a more updated feeling and some of the tracks also bring in a good dose of hard rock.
As the album progresses traces of 70's metal are added into the music at times along with some touches of psychedelic and progressive rock and you can also hear a great amount of bass guitar leads in a great portion of the tracks and as the album progresses you can hear some elements of AOR being added into the bands musical style and the last track brings in more of a blues rock feeling.
Will Wallner & Vivien Vain plays an updated style of traditional heavy metal with their music taking the sound of the 80's and mixing it in with the more advanced sounds of the modern day, the production sound s very professional while the lyrics cover dark and real life themes.
In my opinion Will Wallner & Vivien Vain are a very great sounding traditional hard rock/heavy metal project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Wars Of The Roses" "Black Moon" and "The battle Of Clyst Heat". 8 out of 10.
