Twingiant are a band from Phoenix, Arizona that plays a mixture of stoner rock and sludge metal and this is a review of their self released 2014 album "Devil Down" which will be released in December.
Clean 70's style rock playing starts off the album along with some melodic solos and leads and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and you can also hear a lot of melody in the riffs after awhile the music starts adding in more sludge metal elements and vocals that are both aggressive yet melodic at the same time.
You can hear a great amount of desert and stoner rock influences in the bands musical style along with some heavy rock elements from the 90's and there is a good mixture of both clean and heavy parts present throughout the recording and on the instrumental's they display a great amount of talent and skill while returning back to vocals on the following tracks.
Twingiant takes the 70's southern and classic rock styles and mixes it in with 90's style stoner rock and some of the modern sludge metal sound to create the music that is presented on the album and while they are not really breaking any new ground they still play this style very well, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Twingiant are a very great sounding mixture of stoner, classic rock and sludge metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE 'Dead To Rights" "Tiger Lily" and "Devil Down". 8 out of 10.
