Escapetor are a band from Norway that plays a mixture of heavy and thrash metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "Fear" which will be released in October by Crime Records.
A very aggressive speed/thrash metal sound starts off the album along with some vocals that very rough yet melodic at the same time and after awhile back up gang shouts are added into the music and you can also hear a slight death metal influence in the bands musical sound at times and the band also brings in a small amount of clean playing on a few of the tracks and melodic old school metal solos and leads at times.
The bands musical style is heavily rooted in the 80's style of metal while the production gives the music a more up to date sound and on one of the tracks the band adds in a small amount of 70's rock influences into their style of metal and the band sticks mostly to more of a mid paced direction on most of the songs while they also have their fast moments at times and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and halfway through the recording the band adds in a small amount of folk metal elements one one of the tracks and they close the album with a cover of Johnny Cash's "Folsom Prison Blues".
Escapetor takes a very old school style of thrash and mixes it with the melody of traditional and speed metal while also taking this musical style and making it sound very modern again, the production has a very professional sound while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Escapetor are a very great sounding mixture of heavy and thrash metal and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Queen" "Dealing With Fate" "Suicide" and "Creatures Of the Night". 8 out of 10.
