Witchfyre are a band from Spain that plays an old school mixture of heavy and speed metal and this is a review of their 2014 ep "Legends, Rites And Witchcraft" which was released by Inferno Records.
A very melodic, hard and heavy 80's metal style sound starts off the album and after the short intro high pitched melodic power metal vocals are added into the music along with some NWOBHM and speed metal elements as well as a good mixture of 70's and 80's metal influences being added into the bands musical sound which also uses some fast parts at times.
Powerful sounding bass guitar and melodic guitar leads which are in the hard rock/metal direction are a huge part of the bands sound along with a mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the band also evokes a very evil sounding atmosphere into their musical sound and this could easily be mistaken for a record from 1980 with the way the band approach's old school metal and some of the later tracks bring in a mixture of both clean and heavy parts.
Witchfyre bring back a true style of metal that combines the early traditional and speed metal genres together that goes back to the 78-81 era of metal and they capture the sound perfectly and stay away from any of the trends of the last 30 or more years, the productions sounds very old school yet professional while the lyrics cover Witchcraft, Occultism, Black Magick, Necronomicon and Mythology themes.
In my opinion Witchfyre are a very great sounding old school mixture of heavy and speed metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Necronomicon" and "The Spell". 8/9 out of 10.
