The Austerity Program are a band from New York that plays a very heavy form of post hardcore mixed in with elements of metal and punk and this is a review of their 2014 album "Beyond Calculation" which will be released by Controlled Burn Records.
A very heavy sound starts off the album and sticks to a slower direction for a couple of minutes before going into the next track and adding in powerful sounding bass guitars and semi melodic vocals and the music starts going for a more post hardcore direction while also having a good amount of heaviness and melodic guitar leads.
The other tracks stick to the musical style that is present on the first 2 tracks and the drum machine also has a very powerful sounding presence on the recording and the band sticks mostly to a slow or mid paced direction as well as having a couple of songs that are very long and epic in length.
The Austerity Program play a very melodic and heavy form of post hardcore and while it is not very original sounding the songs are very well executed and more enjoyable than most bands of this musical genre, the production sounds very professional and the lyrics cover everyday themes.
In my opinion The Austerity Program are a very decent sounding post hardcore band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Song 30" Song 33" and "Song 37". 7/5 out of 10.
