For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?
We are all good friends and all of us also share one common bond, music! Three of the members of this band were in another band for several years. We were called Fall With Me. We recorded a few albums, did some minor touring, and learned a lot about the ins and outs of being in a band.
You have a new album coming out this spring. Can you tell us a little bit more about the musical sound that is presented on the recording?
We try not to put a classification to the style of music that we play. Between the five of us, we listen to bands anywhere in the realm of Melvins, ISIS, Led Zeppelin, Danzig, Black Sabbath, Glassjaw, Refused, Dillinger Escape Plan, Pink Floyd, The Jesus Lizard, True Widow, The Sword, Failure, Torche, etc. We think that when you put all of our influences together that is when you get our sound. It is obviously heavier music, but we have the clean vocals that really make it stand out to us and set us apart from a lot of other bands.
The band has only been around since January and already is signed to a label and has an album coming out. Do you feel you work fast as musicians?
We were another band for a while and really decided to change our name and pick up the pace. Many of us have been in bands off and on for the past 20 years. Once we got our new record done and sounding the way we thought it should, we started contacting record labels and webzines. We knew we had to get our music out there. We chose Mikey Allred with Dark Art Audio who is also in the band Across Tundras to record this album for us. He was able to pull off the natural heavy, yet really clear sounding recording that we wanted.
Can you tell us a little bit more about the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?
We like to write about the darker side of life which is a common place with heavy music. I guess we prefer to write about the things that go bump in the night.
What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name “Season Of Arrows”?
Season Of Arrows was a name that Beebs came up with years ago. Initially, we thought that the name would be a cool song title or album name, but it never went anywhere. We started talking about changing our band name and that was one of the ones on the list. We wanted to focus on a name that sounded powerful and creative, but it couldn’t be a name that was already used for some other band. It is supposed to evoke curiosity and we feel that it is fitting to the sound of the music we play.
What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?
Since we are a fairly new band, we haven’t played that many shows just yet. We have played with ASG and Windhand (Relapse) and those two shows went over really well. This is just the beginning of our adventure.
Do you have any touring or show plans once the album is released?
We have some things in the works. The album will be released digitally on April 15, 2014.
On a worldwide level, how has the feedback been to your music by those that have heard it so far?
So far it has gone really well considering we’ve only released two songs on our site.
Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
That is a tough question to answer. We try not to set any boundaries with what we do in this band.
What are some band or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
Again, that is a very difficult question to answer. There are five of us in the band and our likes are all over the place. Some of us like metal, soul, retro, folk, indie, rock, and the list goes on.
What are some of your non-musical interests?
Design, sports, video games, serial killers, cats & dogs, turtles, tattoos, movies, Greek mythology, comedians, oh and our drummer likes to knit.
Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
This is our first interview and hopefully not the last. We are all just along for the ride.
