Revontulet are a band from Russia that plays a symphonic form of metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "Hear Me" which was released by Arcus Records.
Violins start off the album and they bring a symphonic and epic sound to the recording along with an orchestra and a few seconds later operatic female vocals are added in and the music gets a little bit more heavier and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them.
When t he music gets more upbeat you can hear traces of folk metal as well as the music also having an AOR feeling to it in certain sections of the recording and as the recording progresses acoustic guitars are added into certain sections of the recording and they bring a progressive feeling to the album as well as also bringing in power ballads.
You can hear a great amount of classical music structures being mixed in with metal throughout the recording with the metal elements being more closer to the traditional or melodic side of the genre while also having somewhat of a power/gothic metal feeling and they also b ring in some long and epic tracks.
Revontulet create a very interesting form of symphonic metal with this album with a darker sound than most bands of the genre, and the production is very professional sounding along with lyrics that cover darkness and nature themes.
In my opinion Revontulet are a very great sounding symphonic metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Infernal Angel" "Velvet Night" and "Hear Me". 8 out of 10.
