This is a review of another recording from Ice Dragon which sees the music going into a psychedelic style of doom metal and the album was originally released in 2011 and called "The Sorrowful Sun" and will be re-issued by PRC Music in the year of 2014.
An acoustic instrumental starts off the recording and begins the album with a folk music feeling before going into a more heavy Black Sabbath style sound on the following track with some some Ozzy style vocals and old school melodies and all of the musical instruments sound very powerful.
When the album finds its sound it is heavily rooted in 70's style black Sabbath style worship while the solos have a more psychedelic feeling to them and the y also bring in a mixture of both acoustic and heavy songs and the album starts having a very heavy drug induced sound and on some of the tracks they add in both the acoustic and heavy parts which enhance the psychedelic elements of the recording.
Ice Dragon keep the heavy sound of the first album and stick you the more 70's side of it with the only thing being modern is the production while the lyrics cover some dark, occult, and mythology themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from ice Dragon and if you are a fan of psychedelic sounding doom metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Mistress Death" "Dusk" "Poseidon's Grasp' and "Near Sun, on Earth". 8 out of 10.
