Hatriot are a band from San Francisco, California that has been featured before in this zine with a musical style I would describe as being old school Bay Area thrash metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "Dawn Of the New Centurion" which was released by Massacre Records.
The album starts out with spoken word parts before going into a heavy and melodic direction before going into some old school thrash metal sounds along with some aggressive vocals as well as having back up shouts which also leads up to a small amount of growls which bring a death metal influence in the music which also leads up to solos becoming a part of the music.
When the album goes into other songs the music sticks to a heavy and aggressive old school thrash direction along with a small amount of blast beats and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and after awhile the solos get more melodic and the band also brings in a few seconds of clean parts before returning to a heavier direction and at time s they bring in a small amount of spoken word parts and clean singing.
With this album Hatriot continue their old school Bay Area thrash metal sound of the previous album while also adding in a little bit more melody and death metal elements this time around to create an album that is old school, heavy and aggressive while also being updated for 2014.
Song lyrics cover violent, political, anti religion and everyday themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording as well as a couple of the songs being very long and epic in length.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Hatriot and if you are a fan of thrash metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "My Cold Dead Hands" "The Fear Within" "Silence In The House Of the Lord" and "Consolation For the Insane". 8 out of 10.
