Six Degrees Of Separation are a band from the Czech Republic that plays a mixture of doom and thrash metal and this is a review of their 2013 album "The Hike & Other Laments" which was released by MetalGate Records.
The album begins with heavy guitar riffs and drums along with solos which leads up to melodic vocals and the music stays in a heavy mid paced direction and on the following song clean guitars are added onto the record along with a small amount of aggressive vocals while the music adds in a great amount of melody and soul.
As the album progresses it remains in a heavy and melodic direction as well as combining both modern and old school metal and the bass guitars also sound very powerful on this recording and the music mixes 80's style doom and thrash with more modern melodic metal and on the 9th song they add in some electronic music samples along with a small amount of faster riffing and blast beats..
Six Degrees Of Separation take a good amount of old school influences from power, thrash and doom metal and mix it in with a more modern and heavy sound to create their own sound as well as being very melodic and soulful.
Song lyrics cover everyday themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.
In my opinion Six Degrees Of Separation are a very great sounding modern mixture of power, thrash and doom metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Calm Between The Storms" "Involved" "For Jana" aan "Watchdogs". 8 out of 10.
