Mad Agony are a band from Italy that plays a mixture of heavy and power metal and this is a review of their self released 2013 album "Chernobitch".
The album starts out with an intro that has a weird and somewhat silent side to them in the beginning but gets more powerful as time goes on by and you can hear guitars being added in and when the first song starts the music goes into a more old school metal direction.
The music really come s off to a powerful start and the band mixes heavy, speed and power metal together along with solos and melodic vocals and the album has a great amount of melody as well as all of the musical instruments sounding very powerful and as the album progresses the music starts mixing slow, mid paced and fast parts together as well as bringing out metal anthems and at times there are demonic vocals and black metal influences being utilized.
As the album progresses clean guitars are brought into the music briefly on the power ballad which enhances the epic qualities of the recording and after that it returns to a heavier direction as well as bringing in a few seconds of growls and blast beats but sticking mostly to an old school metal sound.
On this album Mad Agony take the early 80's sounds of heavy, speed and power metal and bring in a small amount of death and black metal influences to update this musical genre for 2013 but still sounding very 80's.
Song lyrics cover angry and everyday themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and old school sound for being a self released recording where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this album.
In my opinion Mad Agony are a very great sounding mixture of heavy, power, and speed metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Chernobitch" "Subconscious Fear" "Boundaries Of Death" and "Tribute of Blood". 8/5 out of 10.
