Rabbits are a band from Portland, Oregon that has been featured before in this zine with a musical style that combines, noise rock, hardcore punk and sludge and this is a review of their 2013 compilation album "SOS [Singles, Other Shit]" which was released by Eolian Empire.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being used in certain songs, while the bass guitars have a very strong, powerful and heavy sound that dominates throughout the album.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast riffs that combine sludge, noise rock and hardcore punk together to create a sound of their own along with some melodies being utilized at times, while the lead guitars which are only used briefly are very noisy and distorted style guitar solos and leads.
Vocals are all aggressive shouts and screams that combine hardcore and sludge together, while the lyrics cover hateful and everyday themes, while the production has a very dark, heavy and old school sound where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this compilation and the second side is all cover from bands such as Discharge, Rudimentary Peni, Cro Mags, Bikini Kill, Negative Approach, D.R.I, Poison Idea, Minor Threat and Black Flag.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Rabbits and if you are a fan of sludge, hardcore punk and noise rock, you should check out this compilation. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Wooze" "Lungs" "i'd Rather be Sleeping" and "Wasted". RECOMMENDED BUY.
