Calling Of Lorme are a band from France that plays an industrial form of metal and this is a review of their self released album "Pygmalion".
"Layman" which is also the first track on the album opens up with drum beats and heavy guitar riffs ass well as some industrial style songs and powerful bass guitars before the gothic vocals start to kick in before going into a more aggressive direction with a death metal feeling to t hem but also keeping around the melodic vocals.
"Lore" starts with some experimental sound effects before bringing in heavy guitar riff, drums and synths and industrial style vocals start kicking in a few seconds later with a combination of aggressive and melodic elements.
"Pygmalion" which is also the title track opens with industrial style synths along with some drum beats a few seconds later which also lead up to some heavy guitar riffs and aggressive vocals and towards the end there is a brief use of clean guitars and spoken word parts being utilized as well as some acoustics.
"Child In Ebony" opens up with some atmospheric, industrial synths and clean guitars before adding in some vocals and drum beats along with the vocals utilizing both melodic and aggressive parts and then the guitar riffs start getting a lot more heavier and towards the end there is a brief use of guitar solos and leads.
"Dust" begins with some experimental sounding synths before adding in some heavy guitars and drums along with some industrial elements and vocals which combine both heavy and melodic parts together.
"Away The Grim Stars" kicks in with some ebm style synths and heavy guitar riffing as well as some drum beats before adding the aggressive vocals that also utilize melodic singing and shouts at times.
"1720" makes its way in with some synths and drums before adding in some guitars and symphonic elements and a few seconds later industrial male vocals and melodic gothic female vocals start making their way into the music and towards the end there is a brief use of spoken word parts being utilized.
"Hindsight" is introduced with synths, drum beats and female vocals and then the song adds in industrial elements and heavy guitar riffs which also utilize some melody and then the male vocals kick in along with some robotic sounds and back up shouts while also keeping around the female vocals and towards the end there is a brief use of clean playing before the song gets heavy again.
"Babylon" sets it off with some atmospheric synths and a few seconds alter, drum beats, clean guitars and melodic vocals start making their way in and a minute later the guitars and vocals start getting heavier while the guitar riffing utilizes some melody and then the song starts alternating between heavy and soft parts.
"Nights Out Nights" comes in with some synths before drums and heavy guitars start making their way in along with some bass guitars and industrial style vocals which also utilize some melodic gothic clean singing.
"Cold Line" which is also the last song on the album opens up with some atmospheric synths before the guitar riffs and drums come in and take the song into a heavier direction while also keeping around the synths and adding in some melodic vocals and after a couple of minutes they start adding in aggressive parts before bringing in a brief use of guitar leads.
Song lyrics cover dark themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound for being a self released recording.
In my opinion Calling Of Lorme are a very great sounding hybrid of industrial and metal and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Layman" "Child in Ebony" \"Babylon" and "Cold Line". RECOMMENDED BUY.
