Sons Of Hun are a band from Oregon that plays a mixture of stoner rock and doom metal and this is a review of their 2013 album "Banishment Ritual" which was released by Easy Rider Records.
"Banishment Ritual" begins with some sound effects and spoken word parts which lead up to some heavy guitar riffs and drums along with some clean singing doom metal vocals a few seconds which are also backed up by some 70's metal style guitar solos and leads.
"Argenteum Astrum" begins with some 70's style guitar leads and drums before the heavy doom metal guitar riffs and vocals start kicking in while also keeping around the leads in certain sections of the song and after awhile the bass guitars start getting a lot more powerful sounding.
'Heliolith" begins with some melodic guitar riffs and drums and after a minute the vocals start kicking and towards the end melodic guitar solos and leads along with some powerful sounding bass guitars are added into the song.
''Horror In Clay" begins with some heavy guitar riffs and drums and a few seconds later the vocals start kicking in along with some 70's rock influences being thrown into the guitar leads which come in and out of the song and after awhile some bass guitar leads start making their way into the song.
I'm Your Dad" begins with some heavy 70s style guitar riffs, drums and melodic vocals and after awhile hard rock guitar solos and leads come in and out of the song and the bass guitars start getting a lot more powerful sounding.
'Walking Sleep" begins with some soft clean guitar playing and a few seconds drums kick in along with some blues rock style guitar leads and the song is all instrumental with no vocals being present on the song.
"Plante No. (" begins with some melodic 70's hard rock/metal guitar riffs which utilize some melody along with some drums and guitar leads that come in and out of the song which also leads up to some vocals which utilize some aggressive elements while also remaining melodic at the same time.
''Lord Of Illusion" begins with some melodic old school rock guitar riffs and drums which then leads to the riffing adding in power chords which lead up to some powerful bass guitars and vocals and after awhile guitar solos and leads start coming in and out of the song.
'Rollin' The Dice" begins with some melodic guitar riffs and leads along with some drums and then the bass guitars start kicking in and the music starts getting a little bit heavier and this song is all instrumental.
"Super Kanpai Rainbow" begins with some classical guitars which utilize some finger picking and then some dark, melodic and heavy guitar riffing makes its way into the song along with some bass and drums which lead up to some aggressive screams and melodic vocals and half way through the song there is a brief use of blues rock guitar solos and leads being utilized.
''Ouroboros" begins with some heavy guitar riffs and drums along with some psychedelic sounding leads and melodic guitar riffing and after awhile the music gets a lot heavier and vocals make their way into the song and after awhile the bass guitars get a lot more powerful sounding.
Song lyrics cover darkness and Occultism themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy, dark, old school and professional sound to it where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.
In my opinion Sons Of Hun are a very great sounding hybrid of stoner rock and doom metal and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Banishment Ritual" "Horror In Clay" "Lord Of Illusion" and "Ouroboros". RECOMMENDED BUY.
