Stonelake/Monolith/Massacre Records/2013 CD Review

Stonelake  are  a  band  from  Sweden  that  plays  a  mixture  of  symphonic  metal,  melodic  metal  and  hard  rock  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2013  album  "Monolith"  which  was  released  by  Massacre  Records.

Drums  range  from  slow  to  mid  paced  drumming  with  no  fast  playing  or  blast  beats  being  present on  this  recording,  while  the  synths  bring  a  very  dark,  atmospheric,  symphonic  and  progressive  sound  to  the  recording,  as  for  the  bass  playing  it  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  are  coming  out  of  the  guitars.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow  to  mid  paced  riffs  that  combine  symphonic  power  metal,  melodic  metal  and  hard  rock  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own  along  with  some  soft  and  clean  playing,  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  melodic  sounding  progressive/power  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads.

Vocals  are  mostly  clean  singing  power/heavy  metal  vocals  with  some  more  extreme  sounding  aggressive  metal  elements  being  used  at  times,  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  everyday  themes,  as  for  the production  it  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy  and professional  sound  to  it.

In  my  opinion  Stonelake  are  a  very  great  sounding  hybrid  of  symphonic  power  metal,  prog,  melodic  metal  and  hard  rock  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Fanatical  Love"  "End  This  War"  "Hater"  and  "Notorious".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
