Lair Of The Minotaur are a band from Chicago, Illinois that plays a mixture of sludge, doom and thrash metal and this is a review of their 2013 ep "Godslayer" which was released by the Grind House.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being utilized at times, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that are coming out of the guitars, as for the synths they are only used on the last song and they bring a very dark, evil and experimental sound to the recording.
Rhythm guitars range from s low, mid paced to fast riffs that combine old school thrash metal, with sludge and doom to create a sound of their own and there are no guitar solos or leads present on this recording.
Vocals range from thrash style shouts to high pitched sludge screams, while the lyrics cover Greek Mythology, as for the production it has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound to it.
In my opinion Lair Of The Minotaur are a very great sounding hybrid of thrash, sludge and doom metal and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACK "The Black Heart Of The Stygian Darkness". RECOMMENDED BUY.
