Arkham Witch are a band from the U.K that plays a mixture of traditional doom and power metal and this is a review of their 2012 album "Legions Of The Deep" which was released by Metal On Metal Records.
Drums range from slow to mid paced drumming with no fast playing or blast beats being present on this recording, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars and at times they have a very powerful sound to them.
Rhythm guitars range from slow to mid paced riffs that combine traditional doom metal and NWOBHM with a good amount of dark sounding melodies being thrown into the riffing as well as a samall amount of thrash and speed metal influences, while the lead guitars are very melodic sounding classic metal guitar solos and leads, as for the acoustic guitars they are only used on the last song and they use full chords and finger picking to add some humor to the music.
Vocals are mostly clean singing power metal vocals with some spoken word parts being used at times as well as shouting type vocals, while the lyrics cover H.P Lovecraft, Robert E, Howard and Occult themes, as for the production it has a very strong, powerful, heavy and old school sound to it with some of the songs being very long and epic in length and yo can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.
In my opinion Arkham Witch are a very great sounding hybrid of traditional doom and classic metal and if you are a fan of this musical style, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "At The Mountains Of Madness" "The Cloven Sea" "Gods Of Storm Of Thunder" and "Kult Of Kutulu". RECOMMENDED BUY.
