Terrordome/Machete Justice/Defense Records/2015 CD Review

Terrordome   are  a  band  from  Poland  that  plays  a  musical  style  they  describe  as  being  brutal  crossover  thrash  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2015  album  "Machete  Justice"  which  was  released  by  Defense  Records.

A  very  heavy  and  aggressive  thrash  metal  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  angry  vocals  that  also  brings  in  elements  of  hardcore  as  well  as  utilizing  a  great  amount  of  back  up  gang  shouts  and  the  solos  and  leads  they  use  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  fashion  and  you  can  also h ear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording.

At  times  the  riffs  can  be  very  melodic  and  while t he  music  is  rooted  in  the  80's  the  production  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  modern  edge  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  also  mixing  in  the  raw  energy  of  punk  and  the  whole album  also  remains  very  heavy  from  beginning  to  ending  of  the  recording.

Terrordome  plays  a  crossover  style  of  thrash  metal  that  is  very  heavy,  brutal  and  old  school  sounding,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  social  issues,  pathologies,  and  booze  themes.

In  my  opinion  Terrordome  are  a  very  great  sounding  brutal  crossover  thrash  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Machete  Justice"  "Terror  Thrash  Killing  Machine"  "Favorite  Sport  -  Mosh'  and  "Back  To  the  80's.  8  out  of  10.

Dekapited/Nacidos Del Odio/Suicide Records/2015 CD Review

Dekapited  are  a  band  from  Chile  that  plays  an  old  school  form  of  thrash  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2015  album  "Nacidos  Del  Odio"  which  was  released  by  Suicide  Records.

A  very  heavy  and  aggressive  old  school  thrash  metal  sound  starts  off  the  album  and  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  80's  style  of  the  genre  and  after  awhile  aggressive  vocals  and  screams  make  their  presence  known  on  the  recording  and  while  the  music  is  rooted  in  the  past  the  production  makes  it  sound  more  modern.

A  slight  touch  of  death  metal  can  be  heard  in  some  of  the  vocals  at  times  while  the  solos  and  leads  bring  in  even  more  of  a  melodic  but  still  old  school  style  and  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  amount  of  melody  in  the  guitar  riffing  at  times  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid paced  and  fast  parts  and  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording  and  as  the  album  progresses  back  up  gang  shouts  can  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  the  whole  album  remains  heavy  from the  first  to  last  second.

Dekapited  plays  a  style  of  thrash  metal  that  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  80's  and  brings  in  a  perfect  balance  between both  the  North  and  South  American  styles  of  the  genre,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Spanish and  cover  politics,  war,  anti  religion  and  death  themes.

In  my  opinion  Dekapited  are  a  very  great  sounding  aggressive  old  school  style  thrash  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Nacidos  Del  Odio"  "Anticristo"  and  "Pacto  Negro".  8  out  of  10.

Snake Tongue Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording and release of the new album?

Patrik: Our main focus have been booking shows and planning tours for the autumn. We are working hard on making our live set tight and intense. Any day now the Turist i Tillvaron 9 compilation will be out with a Snake Tongue song on. And  just resently we started working on some new songs and plans for the future.

2.In March you had released a new album, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording and also how does it differ from the demo you had released a couple of years back?

Patrik: The sound of ”Raptor´s Breath” is a manifestation of our view of todays society. Harsch, hard, chaotic and violent. It is also a mixture of the bandmembers musical history boiled down to something new. Dark hardcore punk with elements of metal, sludge and grindcore as well as some eastern/balkan melodies. The demo was recorded when the band was really new and we just wanted to see how we could sound. For the album we had a more focused idea on how we wanted it to sound and I think we took it where we wanted. Then Kurt Ballou´s mix and Brad Boatright´s mastering took it even further.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the newer music?

Patrik: For ”Raptor´s Breath” the lyrics has a focus on the leader and the mass, and the relation between them. All our lyrics are in some way reflections of the state of the world today, but also on some parts of history leading up to how our society is today.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Snake Tongue'?

Patrik: We are surrounded by lies, liers and decietful people. Everyday you can read about polititians making promises and breaking them. I had used the term snake tongue in some lyrics, found it  and thought it would fit the band.

5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?

Patrik: The release show for ”Raptor´s Breath” was our best performance as a band. We have started to become as tight and intense as we want and thats what you should expect from us, a tight, chaotic and intense wall of noice and anger. Doing our first gig warming up for Doomriders and Coliseum was also a memorable show.

6.Do you have any touring or show plans for the new album?

Patrik: Yes, we are working on playing as much as we can in the autumn. We have a festival and a couple of more shows in august, about a week in october booked and working on some dates for november as well. Hopefully we will release our tourschedule soon.

7.On the album you had worked with Kurt Baullou of 'Converge' on the mixing, what was it like working with this legendary musician?

Patrik: I think he gave the recording what it needed, fully taking our thoughts of how it should sound and then some. For some of us I think it was a dream come true working with Kurt.

8.The new album was released on 'The Sign Records', can you tell us a little bit more about this label?

Patrik: Well, ´The Sign Records´ is run by me (Patrik) and my partner Kaj. So for Snake Tongue it felt kind of natural releasing with ´The Sign”. Looking at the labels whole roster Snake Tongue might seem malplaced, but Snake Tongue together with Throne of Heresy paves the way for the labels ´Triangle´ imprint that will be the home of all things extreme, dark hardcore, death metal, black metal etc. The ´Circle´and the ´Square´ have their own genres and together they all form ´The Sign´.

9.on a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of hardcore and extreme metal?

Patrik: Over all we have had great response. Mainly good or really good reviews, of course some hate us aswell, but mainly over expectations. So, worldwide the feedback through media etc have been great. Getting out on tour will tell u show the audience will recieve us. Locally in our home townand in Sweden I think we have found fans in both the punk/hardcore scene aswell as in the metal scene, wich is really great.

10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

Patrik: We will continue to explore the realms of extreme music, finding our own blend. Now all members of the band is more involved in writing and arrangeing the new songs so I think our next album will be more diverse yet more focused.

11.What are some of the bands or  musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Patrik: We all have different taste in music and I think thats good for Snake Tongue. But of course we are all influenced by hardcore, crustpunk and different styles of metal. Martin who wrote most of the music for Raptor’s Breath is also influenced by Balkan/Eastern music and scales. For myself, running some record labels I get new music every day in all genres, some really good some not so good.

12.What are some of your non musical interests?

Patrik: For me, running five record labels, promoting shows and playing in bands kind of makes my life a 24/7 music journey. But I also try to keep up with family life, politics, travels and such.

13.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Patrik: Thank you for the interview (and the great review)! Hope to see you all on tour in the future.

Best regards, Patrik and Snake Tongue

Everblast Interview

> 1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

Initially, we are 4 friends from Montpellier part of the musical underground , and under the leadership of Vincent , drummer , we decide in early 2013 set up a new band. David is at the bass, Mike and Poupi ensure the guitars and vocals. Initially we mainly play in the south of France , but with the first album came out in 2015, we start touring a little more.

> 2.So far you have released a demo and a full length, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on both of the recordings and also how do they differ from each other?

We quickly recorded a demo, and our first songs were oscillating between thrash, hardcore and instrumental sludge , that's why there are two distinct faces on the album. Now we clearly prefer our thrash metal influences , with energy and very thick sound.

> 3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?

The combination of music and words form a kind of resilience to psychological and societal constraints that can undergo a human being.
That said, we play mainly for fun ...

> 4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Everblast’?

It represent rather well the band’s sound, yeah…….
Don’t you think so ?

> 5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?

Hard to say, the most unexpected concerts are sometimes the best . We do not have a great scene play, but we try to create a big intensity with an unstopping and very dense sound.

> 6.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?

Not at the moment. We have new songs to work with, and we will definitely resume concerts in September.

> 7.The album was released on head Records, are you happy with the support they have given you so far?

Of course. It's cool when you start a band to have a label that trusts you and help you in your projects and touring.

> 8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of hardcore and thrash metal?

For now , fans of hardcore and thrash seem to like our approach. They can find some good vibes in both styles which go fast, play loud, and transmit energy.

> 9.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

We will definitely head into thrash music !!!
Hell yeah !!!

> 10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

For many people , our music is reminiscent to Slayer, but we have very broad influences , well above metal.

We 4 are huge fans of the Beastie Boys for example, and that goes from Daft Punk to Chuck Berry or even infamous shitty new songs of Will I Am or Lady Gaga.

> 11.What are some of your non musical interests?

David hates Matthieu Chedid, but we all like booze, drugs, sex, money, talking bad about friends, and all that usual stuff…...

> 12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
>

Thank you, long live to ExtremeUndergroundMusicZine !!

Surtur/Descendant Of Time/2015 EP Review

Surtur  are  a  band  from  Bangladesh  that  plays  a  very  aggressive  form  of  thrash  metal  with  some  elements  of  early  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2015  ep  "Descendant  Of  Time".

Clean  guitars  and  nature  sounds  start  off  the  ep  and  after  the  intro  the  music  starts  going  into  more  of  an  old  school  thrash metal  direction t hat  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  melodic  riffing  and  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  mid  80's  while  the  vocals  are  done  in  a  screaming  fashion  that  is  very  close  to  Kreator  style.

Throughout  the  recording  you  can  hear  a  lot  of  influences  from  the  bay Area,  German  and  Brazilian  styles  of  thrash  metal  and  the  solos  and  leads  are  very  melodic  and  also  remain  true  to  a  very  old  school  style  of  extreme  metal  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  back  up  gang  shouts  are  added  onto  the  last  track.

Surtur  goes  back  to  the  mid  80's  style  of  extreme  thrash  metal  bringing  in  a  touch  of  early  death  metal  and  first  wave  black  metal  to  create  a  style  of  their  own  which  also  incorporates  more  melody  than  most  bands  on  the  more  extreme  side  of thrash,  the  production  sounds  very  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  hate,  war,  surrealism  and  metal  fantasy  themes.

In  my  opinion  Surtur  are  a  very  great  sounding  extreme  thrash  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Descendant  of  Time"  and  "Demolisher".  8  out  of  10.
