  Catch  22  are  a  band  from  Ohio  that  plays  a  very  melodic  form  of  power/thrash  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2008  album  "Soulreaper:  Evolution/Devilution"  which  was  released  by  Metal  On  Metal  Records.

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  no  blast  beats  being  present  on  this  recording,  while  the  bass  playing h as  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  are  coming  out  of  the  guitars  and  at  times  they  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  riffs  that  combine  thrash  and  power  metal  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  with  a  good  amount  of  melody  being  thrown  into  the  riffing,  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  melodic  and  technical  sounding  power/thrash  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads,  as  for  the  classical  guitars  when  they  are  utilized  they  use  finger  picking  and  full  chords  to  add  some  darkness  to  the  music.

  Vocals  range  from  clean  singing  power  metal  vocals  to  some  more  aggressive  thrash  shouts  and  vocals,  while  the  lyrics  dark,  occult,  violent  and  everyday  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy  and  professional  sound  where  you  can  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  recording.

  In  my  opinion  Catch  22  are  a  very  great  sounding  melodic  power/thrash  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Soulreaper"  "Atlantis  Rising"  "Never"  and  "Season  Of  The  Witch".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.

      

Skelator/Death To All Nations/Metal On Metal Records/2010 CD Review


  This  is  another  review  of  an  album  from  Skelator  with  the  music  style  on  this  recording  being  a  mixture  of  power,  speed,  traditional  and  thrash  metal  with  the  album  being  called  "Death  To  All  Nations"  which  was  released  by  Metal  On  Metal  Records  during  the  year  of  2010.

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  no  blast beats  being  present  on  this  recording,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  strong  and  powerful  sound  with  heavy  riffing  that  dominates  throughout  the  recording.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  riffs  that  combine  power,  speed,  traditional  and  thrash  metal  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own  with  a  good  amount  of  melody  being thrown  into t he  riffing,  while t he  lead  guitars  are  very  melodic  sounding  power/speed/heavy  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads,  as  for  the  acoustic  guitars  which  are  only  used  briefly  they  use  finger  picking  to  bring  in  more  epic  elements  to  the  music.

  Vocals  are  mostly  clean  signing  power/heavy  metal  vocals  with  some  thrash  back  up's  and  a  brief  use  of  growls,  while  the  lyrics  cover  Battles,  Rock 'n' Roll,  and  Fantasy  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a very  strong,  powerful,  heavy,  old  school  and  professional  sound  where  you  can  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on t his  recording.

  In  my  opinion t his  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Skelator  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  speed,  power,  heavy,  and  thrash  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Birth  Of  Steel"  "Circle  Of  Bloodshed"  "For  Death  And  Glory"  "Death  To  All  Nations".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.

  Skelator  are  a  band  from  Seattle,  Washington  that h as  had  their  previous  album  reviewed  in  this  zine  with  a  musical  style  that  combines  power,  speed, traditional  and  thrash  metal  together  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2008  compilation  "Time  Of  The  Sword  Rulers"  which  was  released  by  Metal  On  Metal  Records.

  Drums  range  from   slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  no  blast  beats  being  present  on t his  recording,  while  the  bass  playing h as  a  very  strong  and  powerful  sound  with  heavy  riffing  that  dominates  throughout  the  recording,  as  for  the synths  which  are  only  used  briefly  they  bring  an  epic  sound  to  the  music.

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  no  blast  beats  being  present  on  this  recording,  while  the  bass  playing h as  a very  strong  and  power  sound  with  heavy  riffing t hat  dominates  throughout  the  recording.

  Heretic  are  a  band  from  California  that has  a  history  that  goes  back  to  the  80's  with  a  musical style  that  I  would  describe  as  being  power/thrash  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2012  album "A  Time  Of  Crisis"  which  was  released  by  Metal  On  Metal  Records.

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  no  blast  beats  being  present  on  this  recording,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  are  coming  out  of  the  guitars  and  at  times  they  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  riffs  that  combine  thrash  and  power  metal  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own  with  a  good  melody  being  thrown  into  the  riffing  as  well  as  a  brief  use  of  soft  and  clean  playing,  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  old  school  sounding  power/thrash  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads.

  Vocals  are  mostly  clean  singing  power  metal  vocals  that  add  in  the  aggression  of  thrash  to  create  a  perfect  balance,  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  everyday  themes,  as  for t he  production  it h as  a very  strong,  powerful,  heavy  and  professional  sound  to  it  where  you  can  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  recording.

  In  my  opinion  Heretic  are  a  very  great  sounding  old  school  power/thrash  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Tomorrow's  Plague"  "Remains"  "For  Your  Faith"  and  "The  End  Of  The  World".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.

 Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  no  blast  beats  being  present  on  the  recording,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  are  coming  out  of  the  guitars  and  at  times  they  have  a  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  riffs  that  combine  old  school  thrash  with  power  metal  as  well  as  utilizing  a  great  amount  of  melody  in  the  riffing,  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  melodic  sounding  power/thrash  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads,  as  for  the  classical  which  are  only  used  briefly  they   use  finger  picking  to  add  a  dimension  of  darkness  to  the  music.

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  not  much  in  the  way  of  blast  beats,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  are  coming  out  of the  guitars  and  at  times  they  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.
