The Moth Gatherer are a band from Sweden that has been featured before in this zine and plays an atmospheric form of doom metal with elements of sludge and post rock and this is a review of their 2015 album "The Earth Is The Sky" which was released by Agonia Records.
Atmospheric sounds start off the album along with some drum beats before going into a heavier direction which also introduces aggressive vocals to the recording that are very close to hardcore and they also use clean singing in some parts of the songs and the music also brings in a great amount of melody.
Clean playing and synths can be heard in the music at times and it brings in more of a post rock feeling when it is utilized and most of the tracks are very long and epic in length and also brings in the heaviness of sludge and doom metal and when solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very dark and melodic post metal style and some songs also mix in elements of electronic music and a couple of the tracks are instrumental and as the album progresses th music starts getting more experimental.
The Moth Gatherer creates another recording that takes the heaviness and atmosphere of doom and sludge metal and mixes it in with the melody of post rock while also getting a little bit more experimental this time around, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark themes and have a concept to them.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from The Moth Gatherer and if you are a fan of this band, you should enjoy this album. 8 out of 10.
